We are excited to kick off our 2025-2026 program year with Kathy McNeil. Kathy is an international award winning quilt artist, author, pattern designer, art quilt teacher and judge. Kathy offers workshops, trunk shows and lectures, online classes through American Quilters Society and quilting cruises to great destinations with Quilt Seminars at Sea.
Hand appliqueing thousands of little scraps of fabric together, she creates quilts that look like paintings. These wall hangings are inherently and symbolically full of love and comfort. Often using over a hundred different fabrics in one composition, she revels in adding small details and surprises for the viewer to find. The quilting itself adds an additional element of texture to her work. Her quilts are frequently featured in museums, magazines, calendars, and international shows. Many of her quilts are in private collections.
Kathy believes that every creative act begins as a connection between the artist and their world. Exploration of that moment of inspiration fuels the process of telling a story and making art. In her lecture, Quilting, The Happiness Project, Kathy will share tips on design, construction and quilting from her 20 years of award winning work. This lecture is fun, educational, and has real scientific studies supporting the benefits of a creative quilting life. Quilting is good for you! Come learn how creativity in you work affects your joy in life.
