Quilts For Survivors
While not directly sponsored by the Waterloo County Quilters' Guild, Quilts for Survivors is a meaningful project that we wholeheartedly support. This initiative, started by Vanessa Genier in 2022, brings together volunteer quilters across Canada to create full-sized quilts for survivors of the Residential School System. These quilts are powerful symbols of love, respect, and support.
The committee chair checks with Quilts for Survivors each year regarding any specific supplies they are in need of. The items(could be binding or blocks etc)can be dropped off at Gatherings each month. All other donations, including quilt tops, finished quilts and/or monetary contributions should be sent directly to Quilts for Survivors.
For more information on how to donate or request a quilt for a survivor, please visit Quilts for Survivors. The organization has recently moved to a new studio located at 58 Legion Drive, South Porcupine, Ontario P0N 1H0. You can also reach them via email at admin@quiltsforsurvivors.ca
