STBA: March - Kathleen Riggins

Piecing of your quilt is all done. Now - what to do? How to quilt it? How to feel confident quilting your quilt? Join us today as Kathleen Riggins joins us from Canmore, Alberta.

Kathleen has been quilting for more than 30 years (since before her legs were long enough to reach the foot pedal) and has been teaching quilting for nearly as long. Since then she has learned to match her corners and keep her points pointy, but not how to keep fabric scraps off her floor. She has taught quilting all over the world, and is best known for her free motion quilting. Today Kathleen will share with us her lecture on "Swirls Intensive". She will help us learn this particularly versatile design, then practice using it in different ways! She will also share with us her favourite variations on the basic swirl so that by learning this one basic design, it opens up a huge variety of different designs for you to use. If you have felt intimidated at the thought of free motion quilting, come and find out how to make it easier and become more comfortable and confident at giving it a try. If you are an experienced free motion quilter, come and learn about the many variations Kathleen will share.
